Inter-Club Championship

Deepings Camera Club using images from the panel below

came 19th Competing with clubs from the length and breadth of the U.K.

The LPA Inter-club PDI 2023 competition

was held at Nettleham Village Hall on 5 November.

The judge for the event was Dave Hollingsworth.

Scunthorpe gained 1st place with 163 points, Deeping shared 2nd place with Axholme and Pinchbeck all scoring 157 points.

'Black Veined White on Bluebell' by Graham Clegg was selected as the best image in the competition and presentation of a certificate and award plaque was made at the end of the afternoon.

There appeared to be a projector problem at this event with images lacking brightness, although this was obviously the same for all clubs some of our images lacked dynamic range at point of projection, especially mono images.

The Pat Goode Memorial Shield Inter-club competition

Took place in Wisbech Town Football Club on 13 November and was judged by Richard Houghton.

Ten clubs were involved with First Place going to PICO, Peterborough PC gained 139 points with Deeping and North Norfolk sharing third place and scoring 138 points.

This competition involves each club submitting 4 PDI's and 4 Prints. Our highest scoring images were Lion Pride by Geoff Cowley (18), Walking the Fine Line by Phil Green (18) and Laganbarth Hut Glencoe by Steve Coomes (19).

Some images that had been judged by the same judge in internal competitions scored very differently in this competition.

Success for Deepings Camera Club in Lincolnshire Final

The Lincolnshire Photographic Association (LPA) was established in the 1960’s and represents camera clubs and photographic societies throughout Lincolnshire.

Clubs are invited annually to submit 15 photo prints to the Association and these are used in knockout rounds throughout the year eventually resulting in the four top clubs.

On Sunday 15 October the finals took place at Nettleham Village Hall involving Deeping, Grimsby, Louth and Pinchbeck clubs. Points were awarded by the professional judge, Malcolm Sales, and Deepings Camera Club were the County winners with 269 points, the runners up Louth, scoring 253.

This was a great achievement for the club and reflected the hard work and photographic skills of their members.

Summer Challenge 2021 Results

Held on Wednesday 15th September, the annual Summer Challenge attracted fifty images from members.

The competition was judged by Dave Stewart and was something of a unique occasion, since it involved both members attending the Deepings Community Centre, plus others who joined via Zoom.

The winning images are shown below. Congratulations to Geoff Cowley for taking First Place, Steve Coomes for Second and Pete Lawrence Third.

Geoff Cowley - 88 points

Steve Coomes - 87 points

Pete Lawrence - 85 points

'Social Photography' Opportunity

Club member Geoff Cowley has come up with an idea for a new club based activity.

As we all acknowledge, Zoom meetings are not especially good for meeting people and socialising. In fact, hall based meetings offer only limited opportunity for getting to know other club members as we mainly sit in rigid rows, facing forward with the lights out.

Geoff's idea is to facilitate outings, where the purpose is photography, but the atmosphere is social; an opportunity for club members to get to know one another. This may appeal to both those who are new to the club as well as longer term members who wish for a more social experience.

The outings are not intended to be formal training exercises, but where more experienced members are on hand, help will always be available and those present can share experiences and tips.

The initial idea is to meet perhaps monthly to explore a local venue. As a start, Geoff proposes a nature-based theme at Dole Wood near Thurlby on the morning of Saturday 25th September.

An email to all members will go out shortly, containing further details and a contact email address for those that wish to register their interest.
